Digital Decade 2026 study on Hungary
According to the Digital Decade, an index measuring the digital development of EU member states, Hungary has a high-quality optical network infrastructure and a strong position in digital public services, especially in the field of e-health. However, our country continues to lag behind in business digitalization and the application of key technologies – especially in the basic digital skills of SMEs and the population. There is a shortage of digital professionals neither at home nor in the EU member states, but at the European level, the most pressing problem is the lack of technological sovereignty in the areas of semiconductor manufacturing, critical infrastructures, cloud services and cybersecurity.
