Travelling to Budapest:
There are daily flights between every larger European city and Budapest. Discount airlines like Wizzair, EasyJet or Ryanair as well as every regular airline flies to Budapest. Budapest has only one airport therefore all flights land at the Liszt Ferenc National Airport.
Travelling from the airport to the city:
You can chose from 3 different options to travel to the centre of Budapest:
- Yellow cabs: There is only one company that is allowed to wait for the passengers at the arrival hall (it is called Főtaxi) – every official cab needs to use a standard fare, 280 FT/km.
- Airport shuttle minibus service: you can buy the ticket for it within the arrival hall where you pick up your luggage
- Public transportation: there is a special airport bus that brings passengers in the city (end station is at the Deák Square) – number 100E - you can buy a ticket at the bus
Moving around in the city:
The city centre is very well connected, many bus, tram and metro lines cross this area. This map shows the different lines.
There are many taxi companies in Budapest. Independent from the company every official taxi is yellow and uses the same tariff, which was defined by the metropolitan regulators.
